Christmas is Here, Don’t Forget The Table Decorations!

December 14, 2011

You’ve got the gifts, you’ve got the food, you’ve got the drink. The tree is up and decorated, the lights blinking merrily, the halls are decked out. Your plans are all laid out, you know who’s coming for Christmas lunch. Are you sure you’re all set?

No Christmas table is complete without it being decorated too. Not only with the food but with that something extra that help create a warm, festive atmosphere. Flowers speak a million words, right? So, the perfect way to add some festive flair to your celebrations are fresh, gorgeous flower arrangements. Something elegantly-white or something Christmassy-red or something bright-n-colorful – flowers will always go together with the décor that you’ve already planned for!

And flower arrangements are so easy to add … even at the last moment. Create your own flower arrangements or get them done and delivered by someone else. It doesn’t take long.

If you decide to create your own flower arrangements as centrepieces on your Christmas table, here are a couple of flower arrangements we suggest.

Elegantly-White Flower Arrangements

What you’ll need: 1 tall and narrow glass vase, bunch of white Oriental Lilies, bunch of white Roses, assorted foliage from the garden.

Step 1: Ensure vase is clean and dry. Line the vase with leaves from top to bottom in an overlapping fashion.

Step 2: Add four long-arching foliage stems into the center of the vase creating an X-shape. This forms the center of your table flower arrangements.

Step 3: Measure Oriental Lillies and roses against the vase and cut on a sharp angle to desired length. Flowers should sit approximately 20cm above the top of the vase. Add roses so that all flowers are evenly spread throughout your arrangement.

Chrismassy-Red Flower Arrangements

What you’ll need: 1 short rounded decorative glass vase, bunch of cream or white Chrysanthemums, bunch of Red Roses, bunch of Baby’s Breath, bunch of flowering fill or foliage from your garden.

Step 1: Ensure vase is clean and dry. Place the Baby’s breath and flowering fill in the vase, filling out the arrangement.

Step 2: Measure and cut Chrysanthemum stems to desired length and place evenly throughout the arrangement.

Step 3: To achieve a round shape in your arrangement, measure and cut roses as required and place evenly throughout the vase. This will give your arrangement a nice red and white effect.

Don’t have Oriental Lilies, Roses, Chrysanthemums or Baby’s Breath? Not a problem. Any kind of flowers will do. If it turns out looking to be a professional looking or not or if you follow the color suggestions or not (by the way, while red, green and silver have always been the traditional Christmas colors, purple adds a modern twist) it doesn’t really matter, does it? As long as you have fun creating your flower arrangements. After all, that’s what Christmas is all about – fun!

And when your garden does not have the necessary blooms, we’re here to help. From bouquets, posies and already-made flower arrangements; from classic favorites to modern flower arrangements, we have everything you need to decorate your Christmas table in true festive spirit.

Happy decorating!
